Comparing Water Filters. Essential To Do Before You Buy.

By Peter Abertoning

Many people worry about the purity of their drinking water.

It's scary how many contaminants that can be found in municipal drinking water. So many people, including me, are now choosing not to drink these contaminants. Impurities like lead, chlorine, drugs and way more. And when it comes to choosing a water filter there's so many to choose from.

Before choosing the right type of purification system for your home, its important to compare water filters beforehand. Here are some tips on how to choose the right filter for your drinking water.

Carbon water filters are known to be one of the most effective types of water purification systems on the market. They offer some great advantages, such as being fairly inexpensive and easy to install. It works when the water passes through charcoal medium carbon, which absorbs the impurities in the drinking water.

So you ought to seriously consider carbon water filters when doing a water filter comparison.

There are also water purifiers which work be reverse osmosis. These are also popular, though not necessarily the best. They work by passing water through a membrane with extremely small holes trapping anything that cannot pass through the holes. Unfortunately there are some contaminants that can still pass through the holes. And reverse osmosis filters are usually slow to use.

Whole house water filters are a good option if you want to filter your water for everything you use in the house like drinking, showering and washing. A great option but more expensive than just filtering your drinking water, for example.

Distillation is another one of the many different types of drinking water filter systems out there. Although it is known to work fairly effectively at removing most of the impurities from drinking water, there are a number of disadvantages associated with distillation. It can remove healthy minerals from drinking water, can be very slow working, and costs a lot of electricity to run. Its important to take all of these disadvantages into consideration when you compare drinking water filters.

As you can see, there are many different types of water filters on the market that are available for you to choose from. Whether you decide to opt for an affordable, easy to install carbon filter or a slow-working, expensive to run distillation filter, there are a number of different water filtration options available for you to choose from.

But the bottom line for most people is just to find the best water filter. When I am asked about water filters I usually find that the technicals go right over their heads, and finally they just ask me to tell them the best water filter that there is.

2 stage activated carbon water filters are the best water filters you can get. A simple carbon water filter doesn't remove everything, so a second stage of filtration is added to take out what the carbon filter misses.

And although you wouldn't expect it these 2 stage activated carbon water filters are extremely cost competitive as well.

I write all about 2 stage water filters featuring activated carbon at my website.
