How to Make Homemade Brownies

By Jane S. Seagman

Who doesn't love brownies? They are fudge-like and delicious and an amazing chocolate treat. They are also really easy to make. They are even easier than cookies because you just pour the batter in the pan and bake, there are no batches or dough rolling to do.

If you want to make homemade brownies, you can either use a box of brownie mix, or you can make your brownies from scratch. It really depends on what you're going for and your own preferences, which is better. It's all up to you which to choose.

First, you need a recipe. If you're making boxed brownies, this step is easy. Just use the recipe on the back of the box. If you are making brownies from scratch, look through your cookbooks for a recipe or search online for a recipe that has great reviews. Maybe a family member has a great recipe you can use.

Now that you've found your recipe, look it over to see what ingredients you'll need. Look through your cupboards and refrigerator to make sure you have everything. Anything you don't have write down on a shopping list. Pick up whatever you need and double check to make sure you have everything.

Now that you have everything, you can start. Look over the recipe careful and start following the recipe. Most likely, you'll need to start by greasing a pan and preheating the oven. Put parchment paper or foil in the pan to make it extra easy for everything to come out of the pan.

Don't slack in the instructions. Follow them all carefully. If you are using a box brownie mix, this will be as easy as throwing in a couple of eggs, oil, and water and mixing. Other recipes will have more requirements. Do what the recipe says or else they may not come out right.

When the batter is ready, you can add just about anything you like that you know will go well. This is when to add nuts or chocolate chips or something like that. You don't have to do this, but it can be done to just about any brownie recipe.

Pour the batter into the pan, and put the pan into a preheated oven. Bake according to the instructions and then remove the pan. Let it cool completely, then lift out the brownies with the sides of the parchment paper or foil. Cut them into pieces and enjoy!
